The 47th CSH will still be deployed for Christmas this year. Many of our staff members have been away from home since February of this year. We would like to spend the entire month of December celebrating the Holiday Season (not just Christmas) and can use your help. Here is a list of what we need:
- decorations to hang in our tent hallway
- decorations to hang in the ER and in the ICU
- secret Santa type gifts for our staff
- used (still in good condition) fake Christmas trees
- interior and exterior holiday lights
- Santa hats
- Christmas movies
- gently used Christmas sweaters (for our Holiday "Sweater" BBQ)
- Christmas cookies
- holiday wrapping paper
- anything else that you can think of
Please send whatever you can by 15November to be sure that it arrives here on time.

Hi, I was told to check with you re: shipping name before shipping. "Has CPT Beth checked with the post office if they will deliver packages addressed to "MCU Holiday Committee"? I know that a few years ago rules where changed and had to have a soldiers name on the package. I am not sure if "MCU holiday committee" fulfills this requirment." Please let us know if the mailing address you posted is alll set. Thanks.
I've been watching that new NBC show MERCY about nurses and the one that came back from Iraq. It's great that there is finally a show about nurses (especially a Vet!). The show is really about life after Iraq so it's interesting to read your blog about life in deployment.
Here's a link if anyone is interested (PS it's on tonight):
