Spent the day with Adrienne checking out the park. I had driven by numerous times but had never stopped to actually go into the park. It's now on the list to check out again. So many trails!

    Walking the Loop

    So much has changed
    but thankfully
    a lot remains the same.

Frontier Ranch continues to grow in capability. The cabins still do not have power (I love that) and there is a small shed where the original bathrooms once were. Hiking the trails seemed shorter than when I was a camper and I enjoy those hikes much more now. Even now, almost 20 years later, the charm of the camp remains.

The walk around the loop is still one of my favorite things to do. The cabins are as beautiful as ever with the smoke coming out of the chimney and families playing games both inside and out. As it is the slow season for the camp, most of the cabins are empty which allows for a sense of peace that cannot be achieved during the summer. Cathedral Grove is empty, and with very few cars driving up the road it is a perfect place to rest for a while and stare up at the redwoods that make this place what it is.
