Disneyland

I flew down to LA today to hangout with college buddies. Amy and Kristi met me at the airport with huge smiles and big hugs. We then hit the road and headed down to Disneyland. (I used to use my annual pass to go to New Orleans Square to study for nursing school classes.) Disney has generously donated free tickets to all branches of the Armed Forces and I took advantage! We had no big plans so we were able to walk around and jump on whatever attratctions we wanted. Kristi brought her Hidden Mickey book so we were able to find even more hidden Mickeys all over the park. Michelle and Mona met up with us after they got off work. I had a blast!

Can you find the hidden Mickey?

Starting to Get Along

Slowly but surely Cleo is starting to become for comfortable living with Blake. I am sure it will take some more time, but I think this is showing some good progress.

More Mission Springs

Another great part about hanging around Mission Springs was getting to meet Makenzie. She is my cousin Lisa's baby girl who I had not yet gotten to meet. Makenzie was born just after I returned to DC after vacationing in CA. She is the cutest thing! I love that both Makenzie and her big sister Makayla look like an amazing combination of their mom Lisa and their dad Donnie. They are the happiest and friendliest little girls ever!

Mission Springs

I spent a part of my weekend splitting wood with my family at our cabin in the Santa Cruz mountains. While it was a lot of back-breaking work I was sure stoked that the temperature only hit the mid-80s instead of the low 100s of the SF Bay Area. As we don't use the cabin too often in the school year we should have enough wood to last us for a few years.

The added bonus was getting to catch up with my Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Stan while we were working.

KKYM Reunion

The girls of Kappa Kappa Your Momma has finally had a complete reunion. All six "founding members" of our fra-rotiry (fraternity/sorority) were in Seattle today for Meggie's birthday. The other five founding members with the amazing assistance of Meggie's husband Chris planned an awesome surprise for Meggie at her birthday BBQ. The five of us jumped out from behind a group of trees as Meggie arrived. The look on her face was great. Way worth the trip up. We spent the rest of the evening catching up with each other and meeting some of Chris and Meggie's friends. Fellow APU alums Matt and Annette Daniells came to the party and it was so great to catch up with them. They are a great couple.
My time with the KKYM girls was short but loved every minute of it!

Moving Cleo

As I get ready to deploy I needed to find a temporary home for Cleo my cat. I did not want to have to give her up and thankfully my parents said that she could come live with them while I was gone. To get her to my parents house meant having to get her on a plane and fly from DC to Oakland, CA. She was not a huge fan of being in her carrier but after 2.5 hours she finally calmed down and fell asleep.
Now that she is at my parent's house she is having to get used to living with a dog. Blake is a 9-year-old Cocker Spaniel who thinks he is still a puppy. All he wants to do is play with Cleo. Unfortunately Cleo wants nothing to do with him. I am sure that eventually she will loosen up and eventually relax around him. Having both of them on the couch without one of us between them is a rare sight but a good sign.

My Morning View

My current work schedule has me working frm 7pm until 7am. While it is throwing me off as far as a sleep schedule or even a normal life, it does allow me to see Walter Reed in a light that few people get to see. The photo was taken from the window in our Pediatric ICU just before raising our Nation's colors to Reveille. It is a pretty cool sight to see.
