Gettysburg

Becca and I had one of those random days off together today and we took advantage of it. We drove up to Gettysburg, PA to spend some time learning about the Battle that played a significant role in shaping the nation that we have today. We started our day off in the National Cemetry walking around and readin many of the names of those who have sacrificed so much. There are soldiers buried there from the Spanish American War, Civil War, WWI, WWI, and the Korean Conflict. We even found the marker of an Army Nurse Corps Officer. It was very humbling start of the day.

"An enduring light to guide us in unity and fellowship." A flame to honor those who sacrificed their freedom and lives during the three day battle at Gettysgurg.

Becca and I high over the battlefields. I wonder what the Generals would have done differently had they been able to see the battlefields from the height we saw them today...

And then there are times when the nurses are just plain old dorks!

You were in grammar school when we went to Gettysburg as a family. Standing in those fields brings much different emotions now, doesn't it? - Dad

Great pics Beth. Pretty awesome that you get a chance to live near and in the midst of so much American History. About the heat index, the humidity hangs in the air, it looks incredibly muggy and hot!
