What is a PT Belt you might be asking (or not)...
It is a belt made of highly reflective material that is worn during hours of low visibility allowing vehicles and aircraft better visibility of the soldier. The Physical Training Belt is worn at all times with the Improved Physical Training Uniform and is worn with the ACUs at night and at times of low visibility.
The PT Belt has also become something of a joke amongst soldiers while deployed. Our ACUs are designed to help us blend-in to our environment reducing our risk of being seeing by our enemy. While deployed we find it pretty funny that we are to wear a highly reflective belt in a COMBAT environment.
If you are on Facebook I encourage you to search for "PT Belt" so you can see some pretty funny pictures. On the blogger side, check out ptbelt.blogspot.com. Pretty funny stuff.
Even we are having some fun with the PT Belt. We placed one of our staff on a litter and sort "packaged" her as she was going to be flying out via rotor wing. And we used PT Belts for safety...

Hi Beth! You live an exciting life, you're very brave. Thank you for your service. It nice to come across your blog. A friend of mine recently arrived as part of the 21st that will be relieving you. A RN also. It was good to see what being a part of a CSH entails. I wish you a safe journey home.
All the best! From a fellow CCRN
Beth-
My name is Christina Moore. I am an actress and I work on a show called "HawthoRNe" which airs on TNT. Our show is about NURSES and I happen to be stationed in Afghanistan in the show. Your blog has been wildly helpful. Through your words and photos- I am beginning to put together an idea of what goes on over there. Thank you for your sacrifice and service.
All the best to you and all Army Nurses
Christina
