I miss your face!!!

I got a little love note from Lucy today. I sure miss this kiddo.

Dearest Lucy,
I was a little surprised as to how much I missed you my first few days in my own home. While I didn't miss getting to wake up in the middle of the night, it was strange to not to see you first thing in the morning.
Your mommies have spoiled me, very generously so. I have not yet had an opportunity to use their amazing gift (I got a wonderful gift bag delivered by Baxter's human Thursday night from your mommies) but plan to do so once my family flies back home. Please tell them 'thank you, thank you, thank you' on my behalf.
I am super excited to get to see you again! My cousin and her two daughters will be in town for just over a week and you'll get to meet them. My two little cousins are going to smother you with love. Their four-legged best friend passed away a few years ago and you will be a special treat for them.
When your mommies go play next week you will get to spend the night in my home! I'll Baxter-proof it before you come over, just to be safe. (Although, I'm pretty sure your innards took a beating when you were allowed to eat some foliage on Wed morning...sorry little one). Don't worry, I won't mess up your routine too much. You'll still get to spend the day at your home with Lori coming to play with you. It's just in the evening and at night is when you'll get to snuggle in my place. It will be interesting to see how you handle a change to your routine. If you are anything like me, it might be a little rough at first. But don't worry, we will love you and play with you until you are just too tired and fall right to sleep.
You look so much bigger in the video that your momma sent. You're growing like a weed! I cannot wait to play with your Dumbo-ears and paint-dipped tail.
I miss your face!

Just One More Night

Dear Moms,
It is almost here! The day of our reunion! I cannot express how excited am (or would be if I was able to understand how significant tomorrow is).
While playing fetch this morning I ran into the throw of the rope. It was quite surprising. Blonde human came and consoled me. We tried to play again, but I shied away from it. Blonde human says we will try again later. (I do love that pink rope.)
Instead of fetch, I decided the chicken has got to go. I've been chewing and tossing it around until it clucks for mercy. But then, I show no mercy as I am the ruthless rubber chicken chewer (if you say it like it is a super hero name it sounds much cooler). And yes, that is how I'd like to be introduced from now on.
As this is my last day and night unsupervised with the blonde human, I plan to behave like an angel. Ha! I'm a puppy! There's no way I will be that good. Silly humans! Ok, fine...I will attempt my best behavior.
Blonde human says she wants me to clean the house for you today while she is at work. She says some of the best things to come home to after long travels are a clean house, a polite puppy, food you don't have to prepare, and a shower. (Oh, blonde human wanted me to ask if either of you have any food allergies.)
Ok, as the ruthless rubber chicken chewer, I am off to go get more of that chicken.
I love you and CANNOT wait to be back with you.
Love, your Ruthless Rubber Chicken Chewer

I Pooped!

Dear Moms,
I pooped!
It was kinda, sorta normal too!!
It had been 31 hours since my last poop, and over three days since a kinda, sorta normal-me poop. Thank goodness for this delicious gourmet blandness that I devour at meal times. And now with my first dose of abx on board, I am feeling fantastic!
I don't think I realized how crummy I was actually feeling. My energy level is now through the roof! My blonde human caught the last of my poop victory for posterity. I ran around the house in a frenzy, I was so relieved to poop again!
Wow, I talk a lot about poop. Since I'm not allowed to play with it, I guess talking about it is the next best thing.
Other than my poop, my day was rather uneventful. I slept, ate, peed, and played with the nice lady who comes over a lot during the day. She even stopped at the vet to pick up my abx. I like her. Can we keep her?
My blonde human tells me that you are on your way to Japan. She tried to show me on a map, but I really did not care. I was too busy giving her kisses and trying to play.
But if you are headed to Japan, that means you are closer to coming home to me. Yeah!!! I am sure you are having fun, but I miss my mommy and momma. I've got friends and family here, but I don't have my moms. I miss you moms.
Okay (sniffle and whimper), I must be brave and strong these final few days. Three days and a wake-up (or maybe 2 wake-ups since I'll get up with my blonde human then take a nap until I see you). Either way, I can't wait to snuggle in your arms!
Love, your little "I-can-poop-normal-again" Lucy

Simply Good People

The saving grace of my job is the amazingly fun people I get to work with.

My Day So Far

Dear Moms,
Today was an adventurous day. I got to ride in the blonde human's truck while curled up in her lap. I whimpered a little, but did okay. She put my bed and dragon in the floor of the passenger seat for me but I was too nervous. It was a good attempt to give me a safe place, but her lap felt so much safer.
I loved the vet! So many smells and sounds! And everyone thought I was the cutest thing ever. And I am a whopping 13 pounds! Can you believe it?!? Even if I have been pooping out half my body weight these past few days, I'm still growing. Yup, I like the vet.
After the vet, my blonde human drove me home and let me nap while she went to the store. She came home with the most delicious thing I ever eaten in my life! It was gourmet!
Seriously, I loved the deliciousness that the blonde human made for me.
The blonde human said she and I are going to take it easy the rest of the day so we can see how this new food sits with me. I keep trying to tell her that I'll be fine, but I think she worries.
My blonde human said she talked with momma today via text. I'm jealous that I didn't get to talk with you momma.
Currently I'm snuggled in my blonde human's lap while she reads to me. Life is good.
I love you and miss you!
Love, your little and pampered Lucy

A First

Dear Moms,
I had a first! I was sad you weren't here today to celebrate with me, but my adopted humans were a close second.
I climbed up on to the couch all by myself. Well, not really completely by myself, let me explain.
Cousin Baxter was stretched out on the floor taking a nap. I was supposed to be napping too. But I wanted to nap with Baxter's human who was on the couch. I strategically placed myself on to Baxter's hind quarters and used them as a launching point for my climb up Mount Everest also known as your couch. Thankfully my blonde human was there to document this historic moment in my life.
I can't wait to climb real mountains with you when you come home to me.
Love, your little Lucy

Cousin Baxter

Dear Moms,
My time with cousin Baxter was great today. He has started teaching me boundaries. He growled at me when I pushed to far. My blonde human calls him a gentle giant and tells me that I need to listen to him.
During nap time I got even closer to Baxter. We even snuggled a little.
While I like to think I'm a big dog, Baxter's feet tell me otherwise.
My blonde human put me to bed a touch early tonight as I was starting to be aggressive with my attempts of being playful. She is very forgiving, but I think she got a little fed up with me. Hence me going to bed 30-ish minutes early.
It's pretty breezy here, almost windy. I think the different sounds and creaks of the house might be a piece of my behavior. If the human doesn't get called in tomorrow I'll make it up to her then.
Six wake ups and I will be back in your arms! While I am excited beyond belief, I realized today that my blonde human will have to go home. Can I keep her? I like her.
Love, your little Lucy
PS. Have you started to place bets on who I'll run to first when you get home? Just curious.

Translated

Moms,

I will let my blonde human translate for you.

Moms, there is a broken sprinkler that shoots water into the trees. Can you tell my blonde human how to contact the nice yard man please? The sound is strange and is unsettling to me. Not scary, just unsettling. Woof, I mean, thanks.

Love, your little Lucy

Good Morning

Good Morning Moms!
I've been playing fetch and chewing on my dragon all morning. Blonde human says she has a meeting this morning and will then be back. I like it when my blonde human is here to play with me. I'm still struggling with learning not to snap/bite when I get excited while playing.
That was my 'wait. You will only be gone for a bit? Please don't play with my emotions...' look.
After playing hard, dragon and I snuggled for a bit. I love dragon.
Love, your little Lucy.

My Morning

Dear Moms,
Did you know there has been a ball in our backyard this whole time?!? It is a fascinating object that I don't really know what to do with. The blonde human let me investigate it for a few minutes then put it away. She said we are not supposed to be playing where I poop, but I'm a dog! I'd play with my poop if I was allowed to.
I got to visit with cousin Baxter and the human that comes with him this morning. I loved it! Cousin Baxter wears me out though. But when I grow up I want to be just like him!
I miss you and can't wait to see you soon!
Love, little Lucy

Dear Lucy,
Look at you with your new (old) toy! Balls can be fun. I think you will enjoy them far more when you are a bit bigger and can get your jaw around them. You should probably get used to them though. Auntie Beth fully expects you to pluck them from mid-air without a care. I know, it probably sounds overwhelming now, but you are an extrordinary puppy! I'm sure you will be very good at it. It will make for hours of enjoyment - and make you the envy of all of the other dogs.
So...you say that just your tail has gotten longer, but we think perhaps your ears have grown quite a bit as well. Watching them flap around fills us with joy and pride - and giggles. I wonder if your face will ever be able to catch up.
I'm sure cousin Baxter does wear you out, but I bet you wear him out too. Take care not to wear him out too much - or Auntie Beth for that matter.
It sounds like you are having a blast. We are having fun too, but we do miss you terribly. We can't wait until we are reunited!
Much love,
Moms

Baywatch Audition Tape

Dear Moms,
Today was one of my long days. A great surprise was getting to see the human who walks and plays with me a third time. I like her, she is fun.
I convinced my blonde human to help me create an audition tape for Baywatch. You know, the show where people run in slo-mo for no good reason...? It took me a few takes, but I finally got one that I approved of. If you sign the consent, I'll submit it to an agency tomorrow.
While I miss you more than I know how to say, I hope you are having fun checking out the sites and sounds of the place without puppy kibble and pig's ears.
Love, your little Lucy

Saying 'hi'

Dear Moms,
Is that our new house?!? There would be so many corners for me to explore...
Don't worry, I was an angel last night. The human wasn't too late coming home, but just enough for me to show how awesome I can be when I have to wait just a little longer than normal. Plus, I got a kick out of watching the human look for light switches last night. Oh, and then the human got to laugh at me as I suffered from a case of the dreaded hiccups as I was going to bed.
The human has promised me a less stressful day today. The nice human who comes to play with during the day will be here an extra time today. I like her and look forward to our playtime together.
When the human took me out one last time before abandoning me for the day, I had her take a video of me saying 'hi'.
Love you and miss you, Lucy

My Day

Dear Moms,
Today was a little traumatizing. The nice people came and cleaned the house today and they were very nice. But they moved my kennel in front of the TV and it was just enough of a change that I didn't know what to do. Thankfully the human who comes to visit during the day came by and helped get me back to my normal world.
My blonde human came home apologizing like crazy. Something about a late case. Whatever. I was a champ and was behaved in my kennel for just over 5 hours. The human is playing hard with me to make up for her tardiness.
I made a superhero video for you. It's me running out of the darkness to save the world from a lack of snuggles. Yup, I know, I'm adorable.
I miss you and can't wait for you to come home to me.
Love, Lucy

Attempting a Self Pedicure

Good morning Moms!
Checking out palaces sounds fun. Is it kinda like when I find a new corner of the house and get really excited about?
I slept like a champ last night and am playing a little with the human this morning so I'll be ready to go back to bed when human goes to work. Human says she is going to use me as an excuse to come home early. I think it's a great plan as that would mean more playtime for me.
I tried to give myself a pedicure this morning. Human thought it was me discovering my fourth foot, silly human.
Love, little Lucy

My Day

Dear Moms,
I enjoyed a relaxing Sunday today. I played hard after my morning nap then slept in my kennel while my temporary human ran errands. After errands, we sat outside while the human read to me about some other humans who did great things a long time ago. The human seemed interested, but I was not.
The human laughed at me a little today as I battled the hiccups for a few minutes. I think the human got more enjoyment out of that than I did.
I enjoyed a warm bath and then went bizurk while the human tried to dry me with a towel. I don't think the human enjoyed that part as much as I did, but it was worth it as I now smell even better than ever. I then used my excited energy to run laps around the house. The human just stood in the middle and stared at me.
Now I lay sprawled out on the floor trying to sleep but the human keeps waking me up saying "it's not yet bed time, stay awake a little bit longer". I'm trying hard to ignore the human.
It's chilly here this evening. I hope you are staying warm in that weird place you told me about with the non-kibble and pig ear food.
Love, little Lucy
PS. Aren't I the cutest and cleanest puppy ever?!?

The Morning After

Good morning Moms!
I was much better behaved last night as I stuck to the every four hour schedule you have me on (the previous night I was testing the blonde human every two hours).
I think I'm still tired from all the playing and snuggling last night. I played with my dragon for just a little bit this morning and am now curling up for my morning nap.
The blonde human mentioned something about sitting in the sun in a little bit and reading. I'm not sure what 'reading' is, but I hope it is as fun as last night.
I hope you are having fun and staying warm (the blonde human tried to explain what 'cold' is).
Love, little Lucy

Dear Lucy,
I guess I should have expected that you would test Beth but I'm glad she passed the test in your eyes. You will both have much more fun now!
We miss you tons and we are surviving the cold. We have eaten all kinds of Korean food, but I know you prefer kibble and pigs' ear anyway.
We hope you enjoyed all the humans last night - and Baxter. We're sad we couldn't be there.
Be good to Beth!
Much love,
Moms

My Night

Dear Moms,
Tonight I was spoiled with love and affection. The family dinner was to celebrate another human's birth. And I was exhausted before dinner was served. I was snuggled under a sweater as the evening became chilly.
The best part of my day was when Baxter came over. He is teaching me a lot about what it is to be a dog. I have so much to learn. It didn't take nearly as long for me to warm up to him as it did on Thursday.
I miss you and can't wait for to come home.
Love, your little girl Lucy

My Love for the Next Two Weeks

Meet Lucy. She is what I like to call a Pittador (part pit bull and part Labrador). She is the new child of some friends on island who had to travel for work for the next two-ish weeks. A bummer for them, but a perfect time for me to fall in love with this kiddo.

And since Lucy's moms were going to miss two-ish weeks with their new child, Lucy decided to email her moms daily.

- - - -
Dear Moms,
My first night away from you was strange. While I like the blonde human you sent to feed, play, and clean up after me, I missed you. The human and I are spending our morning napping a bit as I don't think this human is used to scheduled wake ups. It will be interesting to see how this human survives.
Love, Lucy

Hi, Lucy.
We miss you tons!  The human looking after you is your Auntie Beth. We hope you're behaving for her.
Please make sure you snuggle nicely during your naps, and try not to tire Auntie out.
Thanks for sending us your picture. Maybe next time you can take pose sweetly with Auntie.
Hope you're enjoying your weekend.
We love you. :)
